According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 01/16/2025 at about 1:42PM, deputies responded to a single snowmobile accident on the C4I trail that runs parallel with Sheehan Road in the Town of Ava. Deputies determined that Karen Wickert, age 62, of Oneida, was operating her 2019 Polaris snowmobile southbound, when she attempted to drive up a snowbank and was subsequently ejected. Wickert was transported by West Leyden Ambulance to Rome Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Recreational Unit was assisted by West Leyden Fire Department, West Leyden Ambulance and AmCare Ambulance.
