The incarcerated male that passed away at the Oneida County…

The incarcerated male that passed away at the Oneida County Correctional Facility yesterday is identified as Earl Scofield, age 51 of Utica.

The results of the autopsy by the Onondaga County Medical Examiners Office are currently pending.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation into this death in still ongoing along with subsequent independent ongoing investigations by the New York State Commission of Corrections and the New York State Attorney General’s Office. The Office of Special Investigations within the Attorney General’s Office requires an investigation into the death of anyone who is in the custody of a police or peace officer anywhere in New York State.
