According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, On February 19, 2025, a Utica man was arrested upon completion of a prison contraband investigation that occurred at the Oneida County Correctional Facility.

On February 17, 2025, deputies with the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Road Patrol Division responded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility regarding a prison contraband complaint. The investigation was turned over to members of the Criminal Investigation Unit. As a result, Brent Mowery, (40), was arrested and charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the first degree, a class D felony. Mowery was processed at the Kurt B. Wynman Law Enforcement Building and remains incarcerated at the Oneida County Correctional Facility, awaiting Centralized Arraignment.
