This week members of the Oneida County Sheriffs Office, Road Patrol Deputies and Special Patrol Officers, attended the Initial Response to Active Shooters training at the NYS Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services - State Preparedness Training Center. The Training was designed to prepare Law Enforcement Officers for an initial response to an Active Shooter Event but also applies to other types of aggressive deadly behavior. The training included class room learning as well as practical exercises geared towards recognizing and strengthening an initial response.

Although these events are unpredictable, the concepts and techniques taught can better prepare law enforcement to react when a critical incident occurs.
