According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief…
According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, who is the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a City of Utica man has been arrested for having sexual contact with an underage female child.
The investigation began when the Child Advocacy Center was notified that an adult male had subjected a female child to sexual contact. The case was assigned to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Nicholas Dean, who was assigned to the Child Advocacy Center.
The investigation revealed that during the Summer of 2021, 22-year-old Christian Castro had allegedly subjected a female child under the age of 11 to sexual contact, while inside a residence in the City of Utica.
The Oneida County District Attorney’s Office presented this case to the Oneida County Grand Jury on April 17, 2025.
Castro was indicted by the Grand Jury and a Superior Court Warrant of Arrest was issued.
On April 28, 2025, members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit and the Utica Police Department Warrants Unit, located and arrested Castro in the Village of Whitesboro. Castro was then transported to the Oneida County Jail where he was held pending arraignment.
On April 29, 2025, Castro was arraigned in Oneida County Court, charged with 2 counts of Criminal Sexual Act in the First degree and 1 count of Rape in the First degree, (all B Felonies). Castro was remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail.
An Order of Protection was issued on behalf of the child and services have been offered to the victim by the Child Advocacy Center.
