The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Unit was invited to participate in a training exercise hosted by the NYS Preparedness Training Center. The training involved explosive detection K9 teams from around the state, participating in different training evolutions. One of the evolutions consisted of planting an explosive on one of the Sheriff’s Office boats while anchored on Delta Lake. The K9 team was then transported out to the anchored vessel where the team boarded the vessel and conducted a search. This training was to introduce the K9 to a marine environment, some for the first time.
