***UPDATE*** According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert…

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol; Today, May 29th, 2025, at around 0935 hours Road Patrol responded to 7495 Cemetery Road for a reported structure fire. The call to 911 came in around 0930 hours and it was reported by people in the area driving by. Upon Patrol arrival, a farm barn was already fully involved. Rome Fire Department quickly responded to the scene and immediately began to get the fire under control. At this time the Fire is out and an overhaul is taking place. Cemetery Road between Rabbitt Road and Phillips is still closed. The fire is currently under investigation by the Rome Fire Department. It has been reported that a total of 8 calves and 2 horses were killed as a result of the fire. There were no injuries reported and the owners were not there at the time the fire had started.
National Grid, AmCare Ambulance, Oneida County DPW, and the New York State Police also assisted on the scene.
Local friends, neighbors, and farmers are also assisting with transporting dairy cows that were not in the barn at the time to another location.
