According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M.
According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol Road Patrol Deputies responded to an address on Gillette Road on the Town of Western around 9:30 AM for a traumatic injury. The Criminal Investigations Unit also responded and during the course of the investigation it was determined that, Tanner Ofalt, 27 of Western was cutting trees down on his property. After performing a cut to one of the trees it appears the tree had fallen and struck Tanner. CPR was immediately started and he was transported to Rome Hospital by AmCare Ambulance. After all efforts by Hospital staff Tanner died as a result of his injuries.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by members of the Westernville Fire Department and AmCare.
Tanner was employed as a dispatcher for the Oneida County Emergency Services.
