According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On July 9, 2025, at about 1200 PM, Deputies responded to State Route 5 in the Town of Vernon for a reported two car personal injury motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Phyllis Little (85), of Oneida, NY, was operating a white 2019 Subaru Forrester Eastbound on Route 5 and attempting a left turn into a driveway. Due to failure to yield the right of way, Little’s vehicle turned in front of Westbound traffic and was struck head-on by a white 2011 Chevy Express van, operated by Loren Rogers (69) of Vernon, NY, causing heavy damage. Little’s vehicle spun 180 degrees before coming to rest facing Westbound, while Rogers vehicle came to rest off the roadway facing North. Little was transported by Vineall Ambulance to Wynn Hospital for ankle and wrist injuries. Rogers was transported by Vineall Ambulance to Oneida Hospital for abdominal pain. Little was issued a citation for “Failure To Yield The Right Of Way On A Left Turn” returnable to Vernon Town Court at a later date. The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Vernon Fire Department and Vineall Ambulance.
