According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, two men have been arrested for possessing stolen property.

The investigation began on July 31, 2025, when Sheriff's Patrol units responded to the Route 233 Storage Units located in the Town of Westmoreland for a Burglary complaint. During their investigation, it was learned that three storage units had been broken into and property had been stolen from them.

The case was turned over to the Sheriff's Criminal Investigation Unit for further investigation.

During the course of the investigation, Investigators found some of the stolen property to be in possession of Anthony Barber, age 51, and Davin Hines, age 33, both of Rome.

Both men were subsequently arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, which is a Class A Misdemeanor. Both were transported to the Sheriff's Office where they were processed and released on appearance tickets returnable to Rome City Court in late August.

The Burglary investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
