According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on…
According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at approximately 9:53 AM, a Patrol Deputy assigned to the Waterville Field Office conducted a traffic stop involving a Chevrolet box truck on Cottage Street in the Village of Oriskany Falls.
The operator of the vehicle, identified as Vance Tallman, of Augusta, was found to be operating with suspended registration, and a revoked driver’s license.
During the course of the investigation, a large cane sword was located in the defendant's possession as well as a quantity of crack cocaine.
Tallman was arrested and charged with the following:
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree
• Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree
• Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (D Felony)
• Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree
• Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration
• Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance
• Improper/Dirty License Plate
Tallman was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building where he was processed. Tallman was then turned over to the Oneida County Jail, where he was held to await arraignment.
Road Patrol was assisted by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit and Clinton Collision Towing.
