According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a man was arrested following a domestic investigation.

On October 1st, 2025, Deputies responded to a domestic incident in the Town of Annsville. The case was then turned over to the domestic violence unit for further investigation. It was learned that the suspect of the investigation had several active warrants out of multiple police agencies. It was also learned that the suspect had evaded arrest for an extended period of time regarding those warrants.

On October 3rd, 2025, Investigators were able to locate and ultimately place the suspect into custody, in the Village of Camden. Shawn E. Smith, 44, was arrested on the charge of Stalking 4th, a class B misdemeanor. The suspect was arraigned and released on his own recognizance at Centralized Arraignment with regard to that charge. At that time, Smith was taken into custody by the New York State Police to be processed on active warrants from their agency. Following that, Smith was processed by Rome Police on several warrants and returned to the Oneida County Jail. Smith was then remanded pending future court appearances.
