Today, law enforcement agencies throughout Oneida County and New York State participated in “Operation Safe Stop” - a two part initiative to catch operators who pass stopped school buses and to also educate people about the dangers & consequences when stopped buses are passed.

Enforcement details were conducted by the Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and several of our county’s city, town , and village police departments in their respective jurisdictions.

In addition to various agencies issuing PSA’s and social media messages, a press conference was also held at the Harts Hill Elementary School in Whitesboro to address the importance of this issue. Attending the press conference were school & transportation officials along with members of the Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Whitesboro Police, and Whitestown Police.
