This afternoon, several members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office presented a $7,450.00 donation that they raised through their participation in a” No Shave October & November” event to Chief Kevin Kalk and members of the Barneveld Fire Department. Typically, the monies raised through “No Shave” events go towards men’s cancer research – however, this money raised at the Sheriff’s Office will go to help raise funds to rebuild the Barneveld Fire Department which suffered a catastrophic collapse this past February. The idea to raise funds for the Barneveld Fire Department was proposed to Sheriff Rob Maciol earlier this year by Deputy Tom Bronson, who is assigned to work out of the Sheriff’s Barneveld Field Office. The Sheriff’s Office and the Barneveld Fire Department have always had a very strong and incredible working relationship.

In order to participate in this fundraising event, members of the Sheriff’s Office made a $75 donation to the Barneveld Fire Department, and in return for the donation, they are allowed to grow facial hair for the months of October & November. Female employees who wanted to participate in the fundraising event were allowed to paint their fingernails any color of their choice and/or the wearing of loop earrings.

Today’s presentation was held at the Town of Trenton Highway Department which is also serving as the temporary Barneveld Fire Station.
