According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M.
According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, at approximately 6:20 PM, Sheriff’s Office personnel were dispatched to 5619 Main Street in the Town of Verona for reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, Deputies located the residence fully involved with reports of an individual still inside. After the fire was extinguished, an individual was located deceased inside the residence. At this time, the name of the deceased individual will be withheld pending a positive identification by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office and next of kin notification.
The Sheriff’s Office assisted the Verona Fire Department, the Durhamville Fire Department, the New London Fire Department, the Sylvan Beach Fire Department, the Oneida Castle Fire Department, the North Bay Fire Department, the Vienna Fire Department, the Westmoreland Fire Department, the Vernon Fire Department, the Utica Fire Department, the Wampsville Fire Department, the Canastota Fire Department, the Lincoln Fire Department, New York State Fire, Vineall Ambulance and the Oneida County District Attorneys Office while at the scene.
At this time, the investigation is still ongoing and Main Street in Durhamville is still closed for civilian traffic. Additional information will be released at a later time.
