According to the Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a City of Utica man was arrested following a domestic incident that occurred in the City of Rome.

On January 14th, 2026, at around 3:00p.m., Road Patrol Deputies assigned to the Waterville Field Office received a walk-in complaint regarding an order of protection violation that occurred on Harbor Way in the City of Rome.

Subsequent to an investigation, Deputies and members of the Criminal Investigation Unit determined that, Miguel Santiago, 42, had violated an order of protection by contacting the victim over the phone for no legitimate purpose and continued contacting the victim through text messages which also violated the order of protection.

Santiago was subsequently charged with the following:

-1 count of Criminal Contempt 1st degree E Felony-1 count of Aggravated Harassment 2nd degree A Misdemeanor

Santiago was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing and was ultimately brought to CAP court.
