According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, a Town of Marcy man and woman were arrested on February 11th, 2026, following an animal cruelty investigation. On October 6th, 2025, at approximately 9:30 AM, members of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Unit and Susquehanna SPCA responded to the Farmore Farm, located in the Town of Marcy, regarding an animal cruelty investigation. The investigation lead Investigators and Veterinarian's to learn that multiple animals on the farm were lacking proper sustenance and medical treatment, for multiple different issues.

On October 9th, 2026, (3) of the animals were surrendered by the farm owners, due to their condition and requiring immediate medical treatment.

On October 21st, 2025, a Search Warrant was executed at the Farmore Farm, to include the seizing of approximately (46) animals.

Further investigation was completed by the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Unit and the Oneida County District Attorney's Office. As a result, Gayle D. Bunn (52) of Marcy, and Peter J. Bunn (54) of Marcy were arrested and charged with (9) counts of Agriculture and Markets Law 353 Overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, failure to provide proper sustenance, all misdemeanors. Gayle and Peter were processed at the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building, released, and issued Appearance Tickets, returnable to Marcy Town Court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted throughout this investigation by members of the Oneida County District Attorney's Office, Susquehanna SPCA, Oneida Equine Service, Leatherstocking Veterinary Group, ASPCA, Rome Humane Society and multiple volunteers.
