Last week, members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office…
Last week, members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office proudly presented a $2,450 donation to Special Olympics NY, funds raised through their participation in a “No Shave January” event.
Traditionally, proceeds from “No Shave” initiatives support men’s cancer research. During January, however, the funds went towards the Sheriff’s Office Polar Plunge Team, helping offset costs for local Special Olympics NY athletes and supporting programs that benefit individuals throughout our community.
The idea to dedicate this year’s fundraiser to the Polar Plunge was proposed earlier this year to Sheriff Rob Maciol by Sergeant Jay Sorrentino, a longtime Polar Plunge participant.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and Special Olympics New York continue to share a strong and longstanding partnership, united in their commitment to inclusion, support, and community engagement.
