According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, an inmate at the Oneida County Correctional Facility has been arrested.

On February 12, 2026, Road Patrol Deputies responded to the Correctional Facility for a reported Contraband Complaint. It was reported that Correctional Officers conducted a cell search of a cell belonging to Thomas Land, age 62, and found a plastic spork utensil that had been filed down to a point on the handle end. Land was being held at the Correctional Facility on separate charges stemming from a Sheriff's Office arrest in the Town of Bridgewater.

On February 19, 2026, Land was brought over from the Correctional Facility to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement building and charged by a member of the Criminal Investigation Unit with one count of Promoting Prison Contraband, in the First Degree, a class D Felony. Land was then brought back over to the Correctional Facility to await proceedings in CAP Court at a later time.
