According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on February 28th, 2026, at around 12:15am, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office responded to a personal injury snowmobile accident on Bear Creek Road in the Town of Forestport.

Deputies on scene determined that Greg Beyer (57) of Minoa, NY was operating a 2022 Lynx Rave snowmobile traveling Westbound on Bear Creek Road, Trail S71, where he struck a snowbank along the side of the roadway. Beyer was then ejected from the snowmobile having suffered back and chest injuries. Beyer was taken from the scene via Ambulance, then transferred to a LifeNet helicopter and flown to SUNY Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

The Oneida County Sheriff's DWI unit responded to SUNY Upstate Hospital where Beyer was subsequently issued a citation for Snowmobiling While Intoxicated returnable to Forestport Town Court on a later date.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Woodgate Fire Department, Old Forge Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and the New York State Police.
