According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, an Eaton man has been arrested after being involved in a Domestic Incident in the Town of Paris.
On April 10, 2026, Sheriff’s Road Patrol and Investigators responded to an address in the Village of Clayville where it was learned that John DeCarolis, age 34, had forced his way into a home on Main Street and began a physical altercation with an adult family member. During the altercation with the adult female victim, three children were also in the home and DeCarolis physically pushed one child as that child was attempting to stop the altercation. DeCarolis then fled the scene as the victim called 911.
The female victim sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment. None of the children were injured.
There was also a refrain from order of protection in place at the time of the incident.
All attempts to locate DeCarolis were unsuccessful, so Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for DeCarolis on April 14, 2026.
Later in the day of April 14, 2026, members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Warrants Unit received information of DeCarolis’ whereabouts and were able to locate and arrest him. DeCarolis was transported back to the Sheriff’s Office where he was processed for Burglary in the 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony, Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree, a Class E Felony, Aggravated Family Offense, a Class E Felony, Menacing in the 2nd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, which are Class A Misdemeanors, and Harassment in the 2nd Degree, a Violation. DeCarolis was arraigned at CAP Court and remanded to the Oneida County Jail en lieu of $15,000 cash bail. A stay away order of protection was also obtained on behalf of the victim and the three children.
