According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on May 11th, 2026, at around 8:13 a.m., Road Patrol Deputies responded to the location of Bell Hill Rd in the Town of Deerfield for a reported motor vehicle accident roll over with injuries. Patrol Deputies determined after investigation that Shane Bailey (54) of Newport, was operating a Smooth Drum Roller for Deerfield DPW in an easterly direction on Bell Hill Rd when he stated the machinary lost power. Unable to control the equipment, Bailey exited the roadway into the northern shoulder causing the equipment to tip on it's side leaving Bailey entrapped. Clinton Collison towed the equipment from scene. Bailey was transported to Wynn Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries received from the accident. Patrol Deputies were assisted on the scene by the Maynard Fire Department. Mercy Flight, Deerfield Fire, Kunkle Ambluance, and the NYSP.
