According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, this afternoon at around 2:45 PM, it was reported to Administration at the Westmoreland Central School District that a student had made a comment while on the school bus which was overheard by other students and deemed to be threatening. Administration notified the School Resource Officer who is assigned to the Westmoreland Junior/Senior High School and an investigation was initiated which involved the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Juvenile Aid Unit. The student who had made the comment was located at home and under the supervision of a parent. Interviews with the student and parent were conducted. The investigation deemed that the comment made was not a credible threat, and the student has not been charged at the time of this release. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to ensuring the safety of our schools and communities.
