According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, who is the director of the Oneida County Advocacy Center, a Vernon Center man, Lawrence Chase, (42 ) was arrested by members of the CAC on June 5th, 2026. On May 29th, 2026 investigators at the CAC were contacted by the Oneida City Police Department and advised that Chase, who is a NYS registered sex offender, was possibly residing at an address in the Town of Vernon(Oneida County), despite his address being registered in Herkimer County. Upon learning of this information, an investigation commenced and was assigned to OCSO Investigator L. Brognano. As a result of the investigation, it was learned that Chase had moved to his current address in Vernon and had failed to notify DCJS within ten calendar days as required under the NYS Sex Offender Registry Act/NYS Corrections Law. Law.On June 5th, 2026 Chase was located in Vernon Center and arrested by OCSO Sergeant M. Bolton and Investigator Brognano. Chase was charged with one count of Failure to Report Change of Address- a Class E felony, under the NYS Corrections Law. Chase was processed at the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building and released on an appearance ticket made returnable to Whitestown Court at a later date.
