According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol an inmate…
According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol an inmate at the Oneida County Correctional Facility has been arrested as the result of an assault investigation.
On May 29, 2026, Road Patrol Deputies responded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility for a reported assault. It was reported to Deputies that an inmate had been punched in the facial area and as a result was transported to Wynn Hospital for further treatment. After speaking with Corrections staff Deputies responded to the Wynn Hospital and spoke to the victim. It was reported that the victim had just entered a housing unit in the jail and was making his way to his newly assigned cell when another inmate struck him in the face with a closed fist. As a result of being struck, the inmate had to be transported to Wynn Hospital for sutures. Due to the injury the victim sustained the case was then turned over to a member of the Criminal Investigation Unit.
On June 10, 2026, inmate Gregory Mignot Jr, age 47 of Rome, was charged with one count of Assault in the Second Degree, a class D Felony. Mignot was then turned back over to Corrections staff to await arraignment in CAP Court. Mignot was being held at the Correctional Facility for a Murder charge out of the City of Rome.
