According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a joint investigation with the Yorkville Police Department resulted in several arrests. In the early morning hours of January 14, 2026, the Yorkville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep that resulted in a DWI arrest of the driver, named John Taubert, age 27 of Holland Patent. Upon conducting a vehicle inventory, ammunition, ammunition magazines and narcotics were located inside the vehicle. The Yorkville Police Department applied for a search warrant for the vehicle and upon executing that warrant later in the day, they found two illegal handguns and more narcotics. During the execution of the warrant, numerous other crimes were reported in the village at the same time in an attempt to draw law enforcement away from the vehicle that was being searched. These calls consisted of numerous felony and misdemeanor criminal mischiefs where individuals were driving throughout the village and had kicked in doors to residences and thrown bricks through windows of homes, as well as damaging parked cars that were in driveways throughout the village. This attempt was not successful due to the assistance of the other police agencies who also responded, which consisted of the New York Mills Police Department, The Whitesboro Police Department, the Whitestown Police Department, the New York State Police and members of the Sheriff’s Office. A comprehensive multi-month investigation began between members of the Yorkville Police Department and the Criminal Investigations Unit at the Sheriff’s Office which identified 4 more individuals responsible for these crimes. At the conclusion of the investigation, the Yorkville Police Department charged Ramel Poole, age 29 of Utica, and Tationna Sook, age 23 of Yorkville, with multiple felony and misdemeanor level crimes. On May 4th, Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Sook for the following charges: -Conspiracy 5th (Class A Misdemeanor)-Criminal Mischief 2nd (Class D Felony)-Criminal Mischief 3rd (Class E Felony)-Reckless Endangerment 2nd (Class A Misdemeanor)-Endangering the Welfare of a Child (2 counts, Class A Misdemeanors) Sook was processed, arraigned at CAP Court and released on her own recognizance. Sheriff’s Investigators obtained an arrest Warrant for Poole, who was located by Investigators of the Sheriff’s Warrants Unit on June 25, 2026. His charges are: -Conspiracy 5th (Class A Misdemeanor)-Endangering the Welfare of a Child (2 counts, Class A Misdemeanors) Poole was processed, arraigned at CAP Court and released on his own Recognizance.

Sheriff’s Investigators were able to identify and track two male juveniles who are also involved in these crimes to the state of Maryland and criminal charges are pending against them as well, however, due to their ages, no further information will be released.
