According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 07/03/2026, around 12:42 PM, Deputies responded to State Route 8 and Latus Road in the Town of Paris for a 2 car personal injury motor vehicle accident. Upon investigation of the accident, it was determined that Gerard Goings of Bridgewater NY was operating a 2017 Chevrolet Cruz, attempting to enter the roadway from a private driveway, and subsequently failed to yield to an oncoming vehicle traveling southbound, which was a 2020 Hyundai operated by Wakia Arnold of Utica. Arnold’s vehicle then came to rest after striking a building. Arnold and her juvenile passenger sustained injuries due to the crash. Arnold and her juvenile passenger were transported to the Wynn Hospital for further evaluation. Goings was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way, returnable to the Town of Paris court at a later date. Arnold was issued a citation for operating without insurance, returnable to the Town of Paris court at a later date. Deputies were assisted on scene by Cassville Fire Department, Clayville Fire Department, Edwards Ambulance, New York State Police, Edwards Towing, and Advanced Towing.
