According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 07/10/2026, around 8:58 PM, Deputies responded to West South St in the Town of Westmoreland for a car deer personal injury motor vehicle accident. Upon investigation of the accident, it was determined that a 15-year-old male Juvenile was operating a KTM dirtbike in an easterly direction on W South St as a deer entered the southern shoulder of the roadway. The Juvenile collided with the deer resulting in him being ejected from the dirt bike, sustaining injuries. The Juvenile was transported by Mercy Flight to Upstate Medical Hospital for further evaluation. This incident is still under investigation. Deputies were assisted on scene by the Westmorland Fire Department, COVAC Ambulance, Mercy Flight.
