According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, on August 12th, 2026, at about 12:45 P.M. Deputies responded to a reported two car personal injury motor vehicle accident that occurred on State Route 12, in the Town of Trenton. Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Russell Ritzel, age 36, of Boonville, was traveling southbound on State Route 12 when he collided into the back of a parked NYS DOT Dump truck trailering a traffic attenuator with his 2019 GMC Acadia. Ritzel was evaluated on scene and transported to Wynn Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Ritzel was issued traffic citations as a result of the collision returnable to Trenton Town Court for a later date. Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by North Star Ambulance, and Barneveld Fire Department.
