According to the Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Rome woman was arrested following a Motor Vehicle Accident and DWI Investigation on Rome-Taberg Rd in the City of Rome.

On September 27th, 2026, at approximately 6:07 pm Road Patrol Deputies were dispatched by the 911 Center to Rome-Taberg Rd near Tannery Rd in the City of Rome for a vehicle that had driven into a ditch. Bystanders reported that the operator of the vehicle was attempting to flee the scene of the accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies observed a vehicle that had struck a ditch and was disabled. The operator of the vehicle, Sara J. Webber, age 54, was located nearby on Rome-Taberg Rd after taking off on foot from the accident scene.

Subsequent to an investigation, Webber was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated by a Deputy assigned to the STOP DWI Unit. Webber was charged with Felony Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree, as well as additional NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law misdemeanors and violations.

Webber was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing. Webber was held within the Oneida County Jail to be arraigned the following day.
