According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 01/17/2025 at about 6:52 pm, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Recreation Unit responded to a reported snowmobile fire on the C7 trail in the City of Rome, near Zingerline Rd. The New London Fire Department had the fire extinguished upon our arrival. Upon completion of the investigation, it was determined that the snowmobile caught fire due to a mechanical issue. No one was injured.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the New London Fire Department. The snowmobile was removed from the trail and the club was notified. The trail remains open.
