According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On April 2, 2025, Joseph Mendoza of Rome, was taken into custody without incident.

Mendoza was the subject of a press release on March 26, 2025, in which the public was asked for assistance in locating him. The Oneida County Sheriff's Office wants to thank the public for their assistance in this matter.
