According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, On…
According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, On Friday, May 30, 2025, at around 1045 hours, Patrol Deputies were called to the area of Whittaker Road near Trenton Road in the Town of Trenton, for a loose dog in the roadway.
Deputies learned that a black and white, male, Pitbull mix was running in the area without a collar or any identifying tags. Deputies called the Town of Trenton Dog Warden and were referred to the Humane Society of Rome. The Director of the Humane Society came out and assisted with the safe apprehension of the dog.
The dog appeared to be in need of medical treatment. The dog was suffering from a severe case of mange. The dog was scared but not aggressive in any manner.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help with any information on the dog and /or the dog’s owner.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by New York State Police, Deerfield Dog Warden(s), Member’s from the Humane Society of Rome, and Good Samaritans who stopped and assisted.
