According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on July 5th, 2025 at around 9:27 pm, deputies responded to the area of 404 Main Street in the Village of Sylvan Beach for a car/pedestrian motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, deputies determined a juvenile male, who will not be named due to his age, was crossing a designated crosswalk on a scooter when a 2025 Nissan traveling northbound on Main Street struck him. The operator of the vehicle, Suzanne Lefave (56), of New Hartford NY, contacted 911 to report the incident. The juvenile was evaluated on scene and transported to SUNY Upstate for non-life threatening injuries. Lefave was issued a traffic ticket for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Sylvan Beach Department and Vineall Ambulance.
