This afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office was very excited to be part of the announcement that the 2026, 2027, and 2028 NYS Special Olympics Summer Games will be coming to Oneida County. The hub location will be at Utica University along with additional events at Mohawk Valley Community College, Hamilton College, the Nexus Center, and the Utica Parkway Sports Center. Law enforcement agencies all across the state and the Special Olympics athletes have a historically strong bond that all are proud of. The Sheriff’s Office is happy to welcome the 1,200 athletes, along with their families, friends, and fans to Oneida County next June. Many more details to come as the planning for this event gets underway.
