According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on August 2nd, 2025, a Utica man was arrested on multiple charges stemming from an incident that occurred within the Oneida County Correctional Facility located at 6075 Judd Road in the Town of Whitestown.

On August 1st, 2025, the Oneida County Road Patrol Division responded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility regarding a prison contraband complaint.

Upon the Deputies arrival, they learned that an inmate, Lance Carter, within the facility was in possession of dangerous contraband, that being glass shards from a light fixture located in his cell. Due to the nature of the complaint, the Investigation was turned over to members of the Criminal Investigative Unit (CIU). As a result, Lance Carter (55), was subsequently arrested and charged with the following:

Promoting Prison Contraband 1st, a Class D FelonyCriminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, a class A MisdemeanorHarassment in the 1st Degree, a Class B MisdemeanorMenacing in the 3rd Degree, a class B Misdemeanor

Carter was brought back over to the Oneida County Correctional Facility awaiting Centralized Arraignment.
