The Sheriff’s Office was deeply honored to take part in the escort detail that welcomed WWII hero Pvt. Harland Hennessey home to Boonville. This moving tribute was made possible through the combined efforts of the Boonville Police, New York State Police, Sheriff’s Office, Trainor Funeral Home, hundreds of motorcyclists, American Legion and VFW Posts, multiple fire departments, and the large groups of community members who lined the streets to pay their respects.
Pvt. Hennessey made the ultimate sacrifice at just 24 years old while held as a prisoner of war in the Pacific Theater of WWII. After 83 years, he has finally been brought home to his beloved community, where he will be laid to rest with the honor and gratitude he so greatly deserves.
