According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on November 6, 2025, at about 9:12 P.M., Deputies responded to the area of Muck Road in the City of Rome for a reported individual suffering from a Mental Health Crisis. Deputies located an unoccupied vehicle belonging to the individual parked at the end of Muck Road and determined the individual had fled on foot into the grassy/wooded area surrounding the dead end road. The Oneida County Sheriff's Office and Rome Police Drone Unit, as well as the Sheriff's Office Canine Unit, responded to the scene to assist Road Patrol with a search of the area. The individual was subsequently located and taken into custody under the Mental Health 9.41 Law without further incident. The individual was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. The individual's name will not be released due to the nature of the call.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Rome Police Department, Rome Fire Department, and the New York State Forest Rangers.
