According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, a man from the City of Oneida was arrested regarding a stolen motor vehicle complaint.
On November 7th, 2025, around 6:07 AM, a Oneida County Road Patrol Deputy was dispatched to the VVS Middle School for a report of an abandoned vehicle. During the course of the Deputies investigation it was learned that the vehicle, a blue in color Silverado pick-up truck, had been stolen from Vernon Downs located at 4229 Stuhlman Road in the Town of Vernon.
While the Road Patrol Division continued to investigate this incident, it was further learned that a subject had stolen another pick-up truck from the Verona State Park, after attempting to steal a vehicle in the Town of Verona. The subject, who was identified as 29-year-old Caleb Stanford, had been located in the Town of Verona. Due to the nature of the incident, the investigation was turned over to members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Unit (CIU).
Stanford was subsequently transported to the Law Enforcement Building (LEB) where he was processed and charged with one count of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a Class E Felony pursuant to section 155.30(8) of the New York State Penal Law, and one count of Attempted Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a Class A misdemeanor pursuant to section 110/155.30(8) of the New York State Penal Law.
Stanford was issued appearance tickets returnable to Verona and Vernon Town Courts on later dates and times and was released on his own recognizance.
