According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Town of Verona man was arrested on multiple charges after the Oneida County 911 Center dispatched deputies to a report of a Domestic Incident in the Hamlet of Durhamville.
On December 31, 2025, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an address on Main Street and found that Steven G. Burton, age 46, had engaged in a physical altercation with another family member for whom there was a stay away order of protection in place for. Burton had left the scene prior to the police arriving on scene and was not located at that time.
On January 1, 2025, Burton was located by Patrol Deputies and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Building where he was charged with Harassment in the second degree, a violation, and Criminal Contempt 2nd, a class A Misdemeanor. Due to the nature of the incident, the case was turned over to the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Unit for further felony level charges.
Additionally, Burton was charged with Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, a Class E Felony, and an Aggravated family Offense, which is also a Class E Felony.
Burton was held at the Sheriff’s Correctional Facility to await CAP Court.
After arraignment, Burton was held on $3,000 cash bail/$6,000 Bond. Burton is scheduled to appear in Verona Town Court at a later date.
