According to the Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a City of Rome man was arrested following a traffic stop in the Village of Sylvan Beach.

On March 21st, 2026, at around 2:00 a.m., Road Patrol Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Pioneer Ave in the Village of Sylvan Beach. During the course of the traffic stop, Deputies located a quantity of methamphetamine possessed by the operator of the vehicle, Joshua Gillett (Age 26) of Rome, NY.

With the assistance of OCSO Narcotics Investigators, Gillett was charged with the following:

(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree, a Class C Felony.(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, an unclassified Misdemeanor.Several other Traffic Violations.

Gillett was processed at the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building and was held at the Oneida County Jail pending arraignment in CAP Court.
