According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, at approximately 1:42 AM on April 11, 2026, Patrol Deputies were dispatched to an address in the Town of Kirkland to investigate a reported threat at the Clinton Middle School. The threat alleged that a shooting was going to take place at the Clinton Middle School cafeteria on April 17, 2026. Patrol units responded to an address in Kirkland with the information provided and a mental health check was made on an involved 14-year-old juvenile female. That female juvenile was subsequently transported to Wynn Hospital for a mental health evaluation. Information was obtained which indicated the involvement of additional juveniles. Due to the nature of the complaint, the case was turned over to the OCSO Juvenile Aid Unit and Criminal Investigation Units. Later, on April 11, 2026, a second juvenile female age 13, was located, interviewed and transported to Wynn Hospital for a mental health evaluation. Investigators responded to a third juvenile’s residence in the Town of Kirkland and secured multiple firearms. Investigators then responded to a residence in the Town of Boonville where a fourth juvenile was interviewed and multiple firearms were turned over voluntarily. The fourth juvenile is not identified as a suspect in this investigation. On April 12, 2026, both female juveniles, aged 13 and 14 years old, were cited for Aggravated Threat of Mass Harm, a class A Misdemeanor and referred to Oneida County Probation on an upcoming date. The investigation determined that the third juvenile, a male age 13, was also involved in the incident. On April 13, 2026, the male juvenile was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building by his guardian where he was charged with Conspiracy in the Second Degree, a Class B Felony. After arrest processing, the male juvenile was released to his guardian on an appearance ticket returnable to Oneida County Juvenile Probation at a later time.The investigation remains open and additional charges are possible regarding the involved individuals. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Unit, Juvenile Aid Unit, Criminal Investigation Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, the Oneida County Threat Assessment and Management Team (OCTAM) and the Clinton Central School District all assisted with the investigation. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office greatly appreciates the assistance and cooperation of all parents and or guardians who were involved in this investigation.
