According to the Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, four parties were injured in a three-car motor vehicle accident on Rome New London Rd in the Town of Verona.
On April 15th, 2026, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Road Patrol Deputies were dispatched to a three-car personal injury motor vehicle accident on Rome New London Rd in the Town of Verona.
Deputies determined that a 2015 Nissan Rogue being operated by Gary Wilson (Age 49) of Oneida, NY, was traveling in a southerly direction before colliding head on with a 2025 Toyota Tacoma that was being operated in a northerly direction by Ben Irwin (Age 27) of Cicero, NY. A third vehicle, a 2022 Nissan Frontier being operated in a northerly direction by Bryant Brownell (Age 36) of East Syracuse, NY, also collided with one of the vehicles during the collision.
The Nissan Rogue caught on fire as a result of the collision, where Gary and his 17-year-old passenger were assisted out of the vehicle by bystanders on scene before the vehicle became fully engulfed.
Three of the parties were transported by AMCARE Ambulance to the WYNN Hospital and one of the parties went to Rome Health, all to be treated for injuries sustained during the collision. The injuries do not appear life threatening at this time and the accident is still under investigation. The roadway has since been reopened as of 6:17 a.m.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by AMCARE Ambulance, the New London Fire Department, the Verona Fire Department, the New York State Police, and bystanders on scene.
