Congratulations to Sergeant Matt Bauer on his retirement…
Congratulations to Sergeant Matt Bauer on his retirement after 40 years of service with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office. Matt was appointed as a Deputy Sheriff in April of 1986 and was then promoted to Sergeant in 2004. In addition to supervising road patrol squads over the years, Sgt. Bauer has also either worked in, or supervised, various units including Marine & Snowmobile Patrols, School Security, County Office Building Security, Warrants, and the Courts & Civil Offices. Throughout his career, Sgt. Bauer has received numerous awards and citations including the Grand Cordon (7 times), Presidential Detail, Woodstock Detail, Drug Buster Award, Ready Commendation (2 times), Good Conduct (2 times), Sheriff’s Citation (3 times), Meritorious Citation (2 times), Certificate of Merit, Exceptional Service Award, Sheriff’s Special Recognition Award, Exceptional Valor, and Citation Star for Bravery. Sergeant Bauer has also received more than three dozen thank you letters from various residents he has helped over the years along with various congratulatory letters from the four Sheriff’s that he has worked for during his career. We wish Sgt. Bauer nothing but good health and success with his future endeavors.
