On Friday, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, joined the New York State Police, Oneida County STOP DWI, Oneida County 911 Center, Verona Fire Department, Vernon Fire Department, Vernon Center Fire Department, Sherrill Fire Department, Vineall Ambulance Department, District Attorney’s Office, and Ironside Funeral Home at a Mock DUI crash staged at the VVS High School. This powerful demonstration focused students’ attention on the real and lasting dangers of distracted and impaired driving through a high-impact visual scene. Members of the student body took on the roles of the driver and passengers to help bring realism and meaning to the presentation.
Following the crash reenactment, students participated in a question-and-answer panel with local first responders who shared their real-world experiences and insights from responding to similar incidents.
Thank you to the staff that made this event possible along with the student and parent actors and the cosmetology students for providing realistic makeup for the demonstration.
