According to the Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on…
According to the Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on June 25, 2026, at approximately 4:22 P.M., Deputies responded to a three-car motor vehicle accident with injuries, that occurred on Rome Westmoreland Rd, in the City of Rome.
On scene, Deputies determined that Alfred Allen, age 75, of Westmoreland, NY, was traveling South on Rome Westmoreland Rd in a 2025 Toyota Camry when he began slowing for traffic ahead. MarySusan Muench, age 40, of Utica, was traveling South behind Allen in a 2014 Honda CRV and began slowing as well. Erik Omland, age 45, of Ilion, who was also traveling South in a 2018 Honda Pilot behind Allen and Muench, when he failed to stop, colliding with the back of Muench's vehicle, which then hit Allen's vehicle.
Both Muench and Omland were transported to local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies determined that Omland was at fault for the accident and was issued a citation returnable to Rome City Court at a later date.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, Stanwix Heights Volunteer Fire Department, Rome Fire Department, Amcare Ambulance Service, Gurley and Fleet Towing, and Riolo's Towing.
