According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol members of…
According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol members of the Sheriff's Office are currently investigating a serious personal injury motor vehicle accident.
At around 4:00PM, August 20, 2026, Road Patrol Deputies responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident on State Route 12 at Steuben Street in the Town of Remsen. A preliminary investigation showed that Daniel Ricci, 61 years old, of Frankfort, was operating a 2011 Yamaha Motorcycle, northbound on State Route 12. Jordan Mirabito, 27 years old, of Norwich, who was operating a 2022 Ram 1500 pick-up entered State Route 12, from Steuben Street, attempting to cross the northbound side and turn left to travel southbound, resulting in Ricci's motorcycle colliding with Mirabito's pick-up.
Ricci sustained serious personal injury as a result of the collision and was airlifted from the scene to Syracuse Upstate Hospital by Mercy Flight. Mirabito was not injured. Due to the injuries involved in the collision members of the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Unit, Forensic Unit, and Accident Reconstruction Unit also responded to the scene.
The Sheriff's Office was also assisted on scene by members of the New York State Police, Remsen Fire Department, Barneveld Fire Department, North Star Ambulance, New York State DOT, and Schufelt's Towing. Several uninvolved motorists had also stopped to render aid to Ricci prior to emergency services arriving on scene.
At this time the investigation is still ongoing and more details may be released at a later time.
