According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, a state of Oklahoma man was arrested on August 21st, 2026, following a suspicious activity complaint.
On August 21st, 2026, at or about 7:30am, members of the Road Patrol Division responded to the area of Osceola Rd, in the Town of Florence, regarding a suspicious activity complaint. Upon arrival, Deputies learned that a grey Chevrolet pickup truck appeared abandoned in the caller's lawn. The caller provided a description of a male seen walking through their yard that may have been operating said vehicle. Deputies canvassed the area and conducted a citizens stop on a male matching the description provided by the caller. Deputies interviewed the male and he was detained shortly after.
Further investigation was completed by members of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Road Patrol and Criminal Investigations Unit. It was determined that said vehicle was reported stolen out of the Buffalo, NY area. As a result, Gary J. Black (56), of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree (E Felony). Gary was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing. Gary was processed, released and issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to Florence Town Court at a later date.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the NYSP and Amherst Police Department (NY) during this investigation.
