According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Verona…
According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Verona woman has been arrested for taking property from an area business. On September 6, 2026, at about 9:50 PM, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the WalMart Super Center, located at 5815 Rome-Taberg Road in the City of Rome for a shoplifting complaint. Upon arrival, deputies learned from WalMart Loss Prevention that a female named Shania Leonard had been shoplifting inside the business. Leonard, age 29 of Verona, had also been previously banned from entering all Walmart stores. Deputies took Leonard into custody and transported her to the Sheriff’s Office where she was charged by Deputies with Trespass, a violation, and Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor. Leonard was further charged by Investigators from the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Unit with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony. After processing, Leonard was taken to the correctional facility where she was held to await CAP Court.
