According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, a Rome man was arrested following an investigation into multiple domestic incidents.

On September 29th, 2026, at approximately 11:56 am, Deputies responded to an address located on Pine Haven Circle in the City of Rome after Probation Officers with Oneida County Department of Probation requested assistance due to a domestic incident.

Upon arrival, and subsequent to an investigation, it was determined that Gary A. Niles II, 41, of Rome, NY, had committed multiple domestic offenses as well as firearm offenses. While Deputies attempted to take Niles II into custody he physically resisted arrest and was subjected to physical force until he was taken into custody.

Due to the nature of the incident, the case was turned over to the Domestic Violence Investigator of the Criminal Investigations Unit. Niles was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building and charged with the following offenses:

Following booking and processing, Niles II was brought before Centralized Arraignment located at the Oneida County Jail, where he was remanded to the Oneida County Jail with bail set.

The victim(s) were offered and provided victim services by the Sheriff's Office and the YWCA.
